ICMA-RC Observes National Save for Retirement Week
October 13, 2011
ICMA-RC is proud to participate in National Save for Retirement Week, an effort taking place October 16-22 in cities and states across the U.S. to encourage employees to achieve their personal retirement goals. ICMA-RC has been a proud supporter of National Save for Retirement Week since its inception in 2006.
The objective of National Save for Retirement Week is to motivate employees to consider their retirement goals and to encourage them to take full advantage of their employer-sponsored plans. Working with local ICMA-RC representatives throughout the country, plan sponsors will be hosting week-long activities and events that reflect a theme of retirement saving. To assist plan sponsors and participants, ICMA-RC has created educational tools and resources for National Save for Retirement Week such as a video, online polls, interactive calculators, and webinars. These online resources can be found at www.retirementweek.org.
"We encourage all employees to participate in National Save for Retirement Week," said ICMA-RC President and CEO, Joan McCallen, "Focusing on their retirement goals during this week will help give employees a clearer perspective of where they are in meeting their savings goals and the steps they need to take to achieve them."
On October 4, 2011, the Senate approved a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of National Save for Retirement Week. The resolution was introduced Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) and co-sponsored by Senators Mike Enzi, (R-Wyo.) and Ben Cardin (D-Md.). The resolution passed in the Senate with unanimous consent.
