Securities and Exchange Commission Considers Proposal to Restructure 12b-1 Marketing and Sales Fees

The Securities and Exchange Commission recently voted to propose regulatory changes that would substantially alter mutual fund marketing and sales fees. The proposal recommends replacing the current 12b-1 fee structure with one that would permit funds to assess distinct ongoing sales charges as well as marketing and service fees.
